Has anyone used a grinder on concrete steps to create a flagstone effect?

Is this a crazy idea? I haven’t worked with a grinder on concrete before, but the idea would be to carve out lines in the concrete in the shape of random sized stones. I think about a quarter inch deep by quarter inch wide would be the maximum the grooves would need to be.

i have done this before, i learnt a few things, it is very hard to keep the lines straight (the best way i found was to use a timber straight edge and weigh it down so it cant move and go along it) ,also you need a smaller grinder nearer the edge so you get the right depth because the grinding disk is round and you want a right angle.if it is a small area then it might look ok .ps i would do the joints the width of the blade so it looks like they are butted up not quarter inch wide,if you have two lines then they will be comparable to each other and mistakes will be easily noticed.
