Natural Black Hair Question.. Please help!?

I have natural hair, its lower than “chin length” and I am trying to grow it out. HOWEVER, I wish for my hair to be healthy rather than getting the length. I wanted to know if there was an inexpensive leave in conditioner I can apply to my natural hair daily that will give it strength and shine? Also, is there some sort of way to grow/strengthen my hair around my hairline? It’s ridiculously curly and so much shorter and its harder to style if it’s going every which direction but the right way!

Some nubian sistah help is greatly appreciated. I wish to purchase in a beauty supply store as opposed to online. I want to check it out in person.

Please let me know! Right now, I bought Sleek & Shine leave in conditioning cream by Garnier Fructis but it’s not working for my hair. Liquid leave in conditioners does not do anything either. Creamy silkening, smoothing and strengthening is what I am searching for–that is inexpensive!

i’ve been harping on this glycerin and water but it’s cheap and it really works so i’m all over it. basically, glycerin is something you can find in the skin care aisle at your local pharmacy. you dilute it with water and spray it on your hair. it really helps moisturize. some people even add a drop of honey for extra moisturizing factor. if your hair likes the oils or thicker things, try PURE shea butter, coconut oil or even fresh mashed baby coconut, olive oil and water (condition your hair with olive oil BEFORE you wash it. sounds strange, but basically the olive oil helps keep the shampoo from causing a lot of damage)

i would make sure whatever you put on your hair doesn’t have any sulfates. ammonium laureth sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, etc. these things are all drying and bad (for natural black hair at least)

for growing out the edges, you can just do protective styles like two stranded twists for a bit and let nature take it’s course. it’ll grow eventually.
