Can a nose ring block the root of your tooth on a dental xray?
My dentist wanted to put a crown on a tooth that had a deteriorating filling. The permanent crown was placed last Tuesday. A few days later I was experiencing some pain and an abscess had formed. I was told my nose ring had blocked the tip of my root on the xray so they couldn’t see it was damaged and would need a root canal. Also how does a root canal work on a tooth that already hay a crown?? Thanks
Don’t say I told you so but if the nose ring was blocking the tip of the root on the x-ray, he should have had you remove it and re taken the x-ray to make sure the tooth was okay before the crown was done. At this stage the crown will have to drilled through to do the root canal. That is not great news because it will end up with a patch job. (I think you should ask him to re do it for no charge) Good luck to you.
